ARTIFACTS OF MY LIFE

"Into Bondage", 1936, a painting of mine about slavery.

This is a self portrait that I did.

This is a photo oh Harlem, New York, a vibrant community of African Americans and art.

This is the Provident Association building, in Topeka Kansas, where I was born.

This is a painting apart of my series, Aspects of Negro Life: From Slavery to Reconstruction.

Another painting of mine, The Judgement Day.

This is a painting by Henry Ossawa Tanner, Christ and Nicodemus, part of my inspiration for becoming an artist.

This is a picture of W.E. Du Bois, who gave me special opportunities.

This is a painting by Winold Reiss, my mentor for my first few years in Harlem.

This is FIRE!!, a magazine that I created.
